History Challenge: Old Township Grimm

Stories from the Savvy Simmer: History Challenge!

Welcome back to my blog, if you're still reading! =P My updates were consistent for a little while, but the reason they tapered off is because I wanted to experiment with videos - which aren't going so well lately due to some issues with my recording software. =/ But the biggest reason I quit was because I had to wipe my computer to factory settings and I lost Norman and Emily McSims. </3 RIP, my beautiful Simmies! My creativity (at least with this) just kind of sputtered out after that.
However, thanks in part to my wonderful writer's group from whom my fairy tale Sims are inspired, and thanks in part to some incredible CC I found on the Interwebz (I went on a little spree...*coughcough*athousanddownloadslater*coughcough* - look, you don't have to tell me I have a problem!), I've been inspired again - this time to do a history challenge!
I've been thinking about different areas of history, but for now I'm just going with the whole blanket term of "ancient," because I've obtained items from ancient, medieval, and Victorian periods and they all seem to work well together. When I used to mod for TS2, my game got a little medieval-happy. (That is something of an understatement; it got to the point where all cars had been default replaced so that horse-drawn carriages ambled down the road and even my loading screen was modded to read "The Sims 2: Medieval." I swapped out modern stoves for medieval ovens and refrigerators for underground cellars, and I was even slowly at work on my own farm animals - if I remember correctly, I was working pretty diligently on a rideable horse and milkable cow, until I found out someone had already done it and saved me the trouble!) I loved my modded game so much, which is why I was totally geeked when EA finally came out with The Sims: Medieval. I'll admit that when I first bought the game I was bitterly disappointed; it did not have the setup I expected at all. I thought it would be much more similar to what I had modded - the day-to-day free play. Now that I've had TSM a few years and gotten used to the different style of play, it's not only grown on me, but I've grown to love it. TSM definitely stands on its own, but I still can't resist the concept of the history challenge for TS4.
So without further adieu and rambling, I present my favorite lot in my fairy tale neighborhood currently - Old Township Grimm.
That's Wilhelm Grimm asleep in my screenshot. =] He lives with his brother Jacob and niece Gemma in this cute little village. It has a little church right next to some beautiful ruins, a busy little "town square" with a wishing well, birdhouse and mailbox in the center, surrounded by a nice marketplace setup. I love everything from the outhouse with the pee bush beside it to the pumpkin patch next to the hollow tree. =] Enjoy the story, and please keep in mind that it's based on characters from a writing group - as such, you may recognize a familiar actor's face or two - or, you know, twelve. ^_^;

Happy Simming!
